I haven't actually installed Ubuntu on my 2nd PC yet, but I have looked at this book. This book seems to be better written, as compared to some Windows books I have. It seems like the Ubuntu team imparts more of a back ground understanding to what is going on in Ubuntu. This is "technical writing" and I am pleased with the books approach to explaining a complicated subject. It is a lot easier to understand a subject with a bit of its back ground, instead of having to memorize facts, hoping to be able to remember one when you need it. It works as a general reference. A Kubuntu-specific manual would have been better for me but this is as good as can be done to help everyone.

Great, simple manual for using the operating system on a general level. It speaks in simple and straightforward language and instructs on how to utilize Ubuntu in day-to-day use.

Unfortunately this book is so poorly formatted that it is difficult to read. The text is tiny and laid out in a column that is against the left side of the page.
Clear, easy to understand, very well written without the customary B.S. Jargon. The Operating system itself is a joy to work with and I can see why Microsoft and Apple bad mouth it... it simply works and works well.
THE BOOK IS FIRST RATE!!!!
No thinking person will ever go back to M.S. or Apple.
I am an old fart and I guess I thought this should be easy! I have worked with windows to long, so I was hoping I could get most of my files over
to a machine devoted to Linux! I love the idea that I do not have to buy into Microsoft any more! I am finding the learning curve to be sharp!
But, I will keep trying, thanks for great stuff. I am curious that open office has been replaced by Libre?
